Royal Casino Glossary — every term explained
The terms you will hear at a Royal Casino table, each with a short definition.
- Capture
- Taking table cards by playing a card of equal rank, or a set of cards whose values sum to your card's value.
- Trail
- Playing a card with no capture; it stays face up on the table. Not allowed while you own a build.
- Build
- A combination of your played card with table cards, announced for a capture value you hold; it can only be captured as a unit.
- Single build
- A build whose member cards sum to the announced value. Its value can be raised by adding another card (if you hold the new capture card).
- Multiple build
- A build made of two or more groups each equal to the announced value. Its capture value can never be changed.
- Take over
- Adding a card to an opponent's single build to raise its value to one you hold; you become the build's owner.
- Owner
- The player who last added a card to a build. The owner may not trail and must be able to capture their own build.
- Sweep
- Capturing every card on the table in one play — worth 1 bonus point.
- Big Casino
- The 10 of diamonds — worth 2 points on its own.
- Little Casino
- The 2 of spades — worth 1 point on its own.
- Residue
- Cards left on the table when the last deal is exhausted; they go to the side that made the last capture, without counting as a sweep.
- Stock
- The undealt cards; four more are dealt to each player whenever all hands are empty, until the stock runs out.
